The oil pan gasket was leaking on my 1964 GMC 1500. I could see it was that squirt-on goopy gasket stuff... so I set out to drop the pan. What a pain!

1. I don't have a repair manual

2. I got all the bolts removed, then figured out I needed to remove the exhast Y pipe. Tip: remove that first, your life will be easier.

Is there an easy way to remove the pan? I did it the hard way. Had to remove the cover off the flywheel, then bump the starter several times to get the crankshaft lined up so it wasn't blocking removal. Then the pan got wedged and I had to have a buddy tap on the front of it while I wiggled/pulled it from the rear.

I need to know if there's an easier way to go about it, because I still have to clean it up, install a new gasket, and reinstall. I wouldn't think I'd need to raise the engine for it. It's going to be a real BEAR to get back in the way it sits.

There is one place that you have not looked, and it is there - only there - that you shall find the master.
