For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | Bias tires handled the job 50 years ago, and they will still do the job. Although I have had nothing but radials on my over the road fleet for over 30 years, I still prefer bias for something used occasionally. Radials have a tendency to blow out after 5 to 7 years because they rot where the belts are attached to the bead. A bias tire is constructed differently, and although the sidewalls may look cracked, they are still sound. I know lots of farmers who have 30 year old bias tires on their field trucks. They use them during the harvest and they spend most of their life in a shed. I have quite a few old storage trailers. Most of the tires have blown out by just sitting there. | | |
