Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 237 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 237 | You can mount a new master cylinder and power brake booster on a beefed up fire wall using a steel back up plate and replumb the brake lines to give you a safe split system.
OR
If you prefer a more original looking unit you can look for and obtain a 40 to 46 1 ton and up 4 speed system consisting of a rod from the brake pedadel back to a bell crank located on the frame and then forward again to a 2 chamber master cylinder for a split system. Do not bother with a power brake booster here it is too hard to fit in the system.
I took the 4 speed brake components off my 41 1 ton and transferred them to my 1946 Suburban for a stock look using a 235 motor.
I mounted a new brake booster and master cylinder on my 1 ton on the fire wall because with a SB350 and 700 R4 transmission there was no enough room left to mount it all on the frame of my 41 ton. FYI, I used a dual chamber brake booster.
I purchased my disc brake kits from Jim Carter and my power brake kits from Pirate Jack. | | |
