Perhaps the Oakland ID stampers in '50 had amazing foresight and guessed that sixty years later a bunch of folks obsessed with old trucks would be trying to guess at whether a VIN tag was genuine based solely upon the spacing and grouping of the stamped letters, and decided to stamp in a manner characteristic of only that particular factory during that particular year. ??
That, or perhaps they were less careful.
