The advantage of 6 or 8 lug wheels is that it is a stronger way to attach the wheels to the vehicle. It is needed for commercial/heavy vehicles. Look at new pick-up trucks, the smaller ones have 5 lugs, 3/4 or 1-ton have more lugs.
For a hobby vehicle, even if you sometimes put some plywood in the back or tow a camping trailer on occasion, having more than 5 lugs will be more a hassle than anything else as mentioned earlier while not giving you any benefit.
