Well I just ordered the vc310 that was in Rightys post, will let you know how it turns out. It is going in a 54 with the original 235 and hydramatic. One of the part #'s they list with it is in my parts book for 1938-46 gmc trucks(canadian printing) #1909343 and says it is for all 46's except 97 series which seems to have a 248.5 cu. in. engine.
