Last summer I was asking myself the SAME question - and I did the research, and looked around, and priced. The seller of my truck was asking $5000 - the truck is in great shape - the 216 needs to be replaced or rebuilt, and generally all the other stuff that goes with a 60 year old toy.

But $5000 seemed so rich compared to what I was seeing online. HOWEVER, I had NOTHING local to compare too! All the trucks were in other provinces (out of state) or south of the boarder!

In the end I almost lost out on buying it because we would go as low as I was offering ($4000). I walked away from the deal, and lost sleep for 2 days! My wife got sick of me stirring and suggested I go pick it up! grin (awesome wife eh?)

In the end I got it for $4500, with all the Chevy manuals, shop catalog and even a 1/24 scale model of the same truck! I wanted to pay less, but I have no regrets, I didn't have to trailer it hundreds of miles, in fact it was a 10 minute tow from to my place.

When I got it driving I drove it back to the previous owners, as he wanted to see it driving, but just couldn't afford the time or $ to do so. There was another person interested when I was buying it that was going to rat rod it, he was happy to see I was bringing it back to original.

All that to say, you'll pay what its worth to YOU! The way you describe your truck, sounds like it was in better shape than mine! When I start to think about new rubber alone I shudder!!!

Is there an asking price?
