Joe,could it be the clutch disc hanging up on the input shaft ? Did you put a new pilot bushing in it from the beginning ? You may have solved it by replacing the bearings,you won't know until you reinstall it.
I'm going to try rebuilding the t-5 I put in my suburban,one of these days.I installed it without checking it out,it seems fine.
