Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 138 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 138 | Hey guys, I was test driving my neighbors 57 3100 the other day (trying to talk myself into it), and when I applied a good bit of throttle, it had one big backfire. The motor is a bored out 283 with corvette cams. but there is a exhaust leak where the manifold bolt to the actual exhaust pipe (3 bolts). the owner said the donut seal might be crooked. could this cause a backfire? he said it also might be running a little lean, but it cant be much because the idle is still a great low lope.
