yes, one sloppy kingpin can cause strange behavior, not to mention backyard engineering on steering geometry - and you don't mention having done a proper alignment, surely the caster, camber and toe were altered with that work, sounds like there's at least a bump steer problem .... hope you have an understanding insurance company
