I just got a 41 COE truck running after a long time sitting. It has it's stock 216. I'm not sure whether it is mechanical or hydrolic, but stock for sure.
It starts and purrs like a kitten, but it is quieter when it first starts. Once he warms up the valves start ticking, mostly from the middle of the engine (3 and 4). That makes sense to me as when it warms up things loosen up. My question is what does that mean? Valve adjustment needed? Oil change (old oil/sticky lifter)? Normal?
I just started it up and it has only run about 10 minutes so I haven't changed the oil yet or anything. A warm oil change is next on my list.
If adjustment is necessary, can I do the ol' back off while running till I get a click, then tighten 1/2 turn thing?
Thanks as always!
