Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 306 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 306 | hello i've been sifting through the posts in this forum for a couple of weeks now and have yet to see one like this i have a 54 235 the number stamped behind the dist is F54Z it also has a data plate rivited above the block casting # ( 3835911) that indicates that it has been over hauled job #, cyl .030, journals .010, etc i'm curious if that means gm did the work? my problem is that i can't get the cam out. folowing the instructions i downloaded from this site and those in the 54 fsctory manual- once i pulled the crank gear i rotated the cam looking thru the holes found 3 bolts instead of two screws. i removed all 3. then when i tried to slide the cam out it only moved a quarter inch before it hit on something. i can't see anything that would hang it up there are two screws on the front plate. i broke a screw driver trying to take one out. the other is behind the cam timing gear and the hole does not allow access i quit at that point. what have i missed that will let me get the cam out? thanks
