I bought my first stick welder about 50 years ago. My first wire welder, a Millermatic 200 about 25 years ago. I still have it and have never had any trouble with. I have 6 or 8 other welders at the shop, all Miller or Lincoln.
At home I have a Hobart 140 and I just love it. I use .023 wire with argon/CO2 mix and I can weld anything from almost a tin can to 1/4" I have even welded 3/8" V'ed out and made 3 passes. I don't see why anyone would want anything larger at a home shop.
