AD or A-D is the abbreviation for Chevrolet's official name for the 1947 through 1955-1st series of trucks, Advance-Design trucks.
Chevrolet starting selling this series in mid 1947 but it was officially THE 1947 truck (1946 trucks sold in 1947 were stilled called 1946 trucks). Chevrolet stopped selling the Advance-Design series of trucks in mid 1955; and, in 1955, Chevrolet referred the 1955-1st series as Advance-Design trucks and 1955-2nd series as the Task Force trucks (the official name for the next series of Chevrolet trucks).
The 1947-1955 GMC series of truck was officially called New Design trucks.
The term Art Deco trucks is a non-official but commonly-used term for the pre-Advance-Design series of Chevrolet trucks.
