This is a statement made in an article written by Pat Smith called "261 Street Engine Build":
"The bore can be increased to 3.875 (278 Cu. In.) with fair safety. And, in an emergency, in the case of saving a block, can go another .020" to .030". I like to go .110", which leaves a margin of safety and 276 cu. in. Rings used will be Buick V6 + .060"."
I thought that was interesting and felt safe with my .080" oversizing decision.
