Cletis, i'm not sure just how solid your pipes are mounted to the frame,but that might be the possible suspect.

Like Joe says, it's got to flex/expand.

My friend had a 52 with a rolled rear pan,after a blast down the freeway,the tailpipes stuck out about an inch and a half, they were flush when cold!
