With a 235 engine 4.56 should be about right from my experience.
Sounds like you have a V8, does it have much more HP and torque? If so you may get by with 4.11, but then again might not?

Grigg, it has a 283 in it now. It had a newly rebuilt 235 which ran great but couldn't haul a load at any speed. With the 235 for example, on a hill with 3,000 lbs of gravel I'd have to drop down to second gear. That same hill w\o a load and I'd be in 3rd gear. Now with the 283 I can pull the hill in 3rd loaded and in 4th empty. So I can definitely run at higher speed and get up to speed faster with the V8.

So I guess I'm trying to figure out how the truck would do with the 283 and 4.11 gears while hauling 3,000 lbs. Would it be that much different than a 3\4 ton longbed pickup with 4.11's? I'm not sure what the difference in curb weight is between the dually and a longbed pickup so if the dually weighs a lot more to begin with then maybe the 4.11's aren't a good idea for hauling.
