The history of radiator shops at the Cap-A-Radiator link that Alvin posted tells the story really well. It looks like our future just might be plastic and aluminum so we better just get used to the fact that the old days are gone for ever. We'll never get back to the level of quality that once exesisted.

Yeah Joe, Pete52 and I were discussing that very point over a cup of coffee just yeaterday. But my feeling is that there taint no way that 27 pound radiator is gonna hold 10 pounds of crud and still be keeping the engine cool, and it was keeping it at 180° on the drive home when I bought it.
