Something that you have to keep in perspective is these trucks were built as work vehicles and the highways weren't as fast as they are today. The second thing is that who would have thought they would last this long - certainly not GM, they like to sell new ones. If you want to compete with the crazies out there you have to upgrade to an overdrive or better set of gears. It's also a good idea to update the brake & steering systems.
