I am finishing the electrical on my 51 chevy truck. I should add this is my first electrical work ever so everything sounds greek to me and english is already my second language...LOL
Truck now has a 250 motor and I am upgrading all to 12 volts but keeping the original ignition switch but got rid off the foot start button. It is still using a ballast resistor for the coil.
I am trying to wire a push button under the dash but I am having a bit of an issue. Every decent looking button only has one prong on the back gounds to the body but I believe I need a 2 prong to active the solenoid in the starter...am I wrong?
I read somewhere I could use the one prong switch but I need a relay....hence, the problem...how do I wire this???
I already run two wires from the starter, one from the large battery post and the other one from the soleinod post....
I was thinking to run those 2 wires to a horn relay "H" and "B" terminals on the relay and run a wire from the "A" to the one prong switch....can this work or should I just keep looking for a decent looking 2 prong switch....Any one can tell me where I can get one? I just want something small, flush and hopefully small diameter and body length so it won't interrupt anything inside the bottom of the dash.
