Well maybe it's just semantics guys, but I think you might have meant wrapping tape Tim? Electrical tape is not good for wrapping wires under hood. In short order, exposed to heat and oil the glue on the electrical tape will become a sticky gooey mess and will slip. The black wrapping tape that the automakers used did not have an adhesive on it. If you look at an original loom it’s wrapped tight then terminated at the ends by tucking or tying. It’s a little hard to find, but it’s out there, here is one link:
