So it is possible to to turn an old type into a an open transmission by changing the differential. Regarding the swap, just the housing might be old and the gear and pinion be changed (it is a 3.90 gear ratio)to a newer one? Same with the axles? Is just the pumpkin the one changed in order to turn it into an open transmission? I do have some photos of the casting numbers on several parts. Is it possible to identify them by it? I'm actually looking for all bearings, front and rear for the pinion, both, left and right for the differential, as well as for front and rear wheels (in the front both inner and outer). The reason I'm sort of trying to rely on the Parts Book is that the actual configuration is not at all well assembled. For instance, one pinion bearing has the cage of the roller a Bower, and the cup is SKF. The cup, even though fits the exterior diameter, the width doesn't cover the whole bearing, barely the rollers. It would be wise to take each part (say pinion, axles, etc) to a bearing distributor to check for diameters and go from there? Here are some photos of my parts book, the drawing and the listing. Check the Number 2.0760 (diff. bearing), theres where the 187434 number appears.
