There seems to be a definate trend to keeping a six in the engine bay,and as Wrenchbender mentions there's a fair bit more work in installing a V8,the header/steering clearance is just one of the issues.
Using a later 235 gives you the advantage of a full pressure oil system,and as Cletis mentions it's more in keeping with the 'original' look.
Plus there's plenty of go faster goodies available if that's what floats your boat!
