Yes they were available, no they are not an official accessory. The most commonly used one is a Guide model B31 mounted on a clamping bracket. The 55-59 units came with two different switch mounts. one for column shift units and one for floor shift units. You could use a dash mount toggle or plunge switch to actuate it too.
