Jerk every old wire out of it and start from scratch.

Get all wires run to their respective area before terminating anything.

Once they are run temporarily tape them in the position you want them to lay. Lay them loosely into any clamps, clips, etc.

When you have it looking pretty start terminating your wires.

Wait until every circuit is terminated before installing battery. Don't check them as you go.
