| | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 | TEL, as used to increase octane, is a sacrificial deposit and is continuously precipitated on the seats and worn off by the closing valve - there is no continuous build-up.
I'm not sure which gasoline grades (other than premium) used TEL, but until it was banned it's been used since WW2 (that's what the pump sign "ETHYL" means)- so many stovebolts got it daily. | | |
