Hello all ,
I have started the project of bring back a 65 P30 van . I'm getting to be all over this site as more problems arrive on this project .
The latest in the list of failures is the alternator , or at least the regulator , maybe both .
Seeing as to how the alternator is very small being under 40 amps , and isn't the correct one for the engine as well , (pulleys do not line up) I was thinking it would be better to up-date the system to an internal regulated system and try for a 80 amp alternator .
Anyone have any tips about what needs to be changed in order to make this swap ? Can the same mounts be used ? Any major wiring changes needed ?
Is it worth the trouble ?
