Canada	Hy nickcs2004, the terminal on the side of the contact housing on a foot starter should only be in contact with power when the starter is engaged and cranking. The solenoid starter operates in the same way, when the engine is running the resistor bypass terminals have a powered wire connected to them, but the terminal is not connected to anything else, so there is no problem.
