I thought about that late yesterday and switched out the coil. I saw the first sign of life with one small backfire through the carb. It wasn't much, just a small puff but it is the first sign that something may be trying to work.
Next step is to verify the compression as suggested. I have noticed that some of the valves seem really lose. I will try to cold adjust them to get in the ball park and make sure the timing mark is close.
One other thought that just popped in my head.... These old trucks use leaded gas. As far as i know nothing has been done to this engine. Would that have any impact on trying to get it started? I would think it would start at least but then the lack of lead in the gas could damage the valves I guess....
