If it does not squrit gas, the acc pump is worn out or a passage is blocked. At this point, I would consider and possibly replace the accelerator pump with the carb in place. Doing so may not fix the problem (pluged passage). Then you will have to remove the carb and get out the pipe cleaners and compressed air source. If you attempt to work on a carb in place, there is always the danger of dropping somthing down the carb or a small part to the ground. Now you have a bigger problem. If you have a kit, you have what you need to do the job. It is possible to cut new gaskets for the top of a Rodchester.
I am not a believer in installing a full kit for any carburation problem. Learn the carburator, use what you need. If it aint broke don't fix it. I wished I learned that one years ago.
