If this was the top ring, it would be a ring insert. Your top ring land gets the most wear and you can recondition the piston by reaming out the groove, getting it square again and installing a ring insert. However, I don't know what would be going on with the second ring groove unless for some reason it was damaged and they repaired it by the method I have mentioned.
