panic 'Bolter P Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 Long Island	Straight 30 weight (i.e., "30") is thick enough to seriously drag down the starter speed of many of my cars, V8, VW, slant 6, etc. when it's cold. They all have scary tappet noises for 10 minutes also. I'd use 10W30 instead of 20W50.
