Maybe only 10% of the flow gets filtered as the oil passes through the oil journal into the bypass exit into the canister. However, 100% of all the oil gets filtered over a very reasonable cycle of time. And, the degree of filtering is supposedly superior to that provided by a flow-through, full-flow filtering system.
