The 700 R4 is a good tranny, it has a lower 1rst gear than the TH350 plus the overdrive. The early ones do have a problem with a waek pump, and the throttle valve are sensitive to plugging, but other than that they are very reliable. For $150 each, I'd go for it if I was you.
