Find a piece of rubber fuel or vacuum hose the right size to be a snug fit in the hole in the generator housing to insulate the bolt from the housing, then use a thin plastic or rubber washer above and below the housing to keep the bolt from making contact with the generator. You might have to drill out the inside of the hose a little to make the bolt fit. Another approach would be to use a piece of electrical heat-shrink tubing to insulate the shank of the bolt as it passes through the housing.
