From the frequency I would like to think it is a lifter/valve train noise as opposed to an engine knock. The engine idles quite smoothly.
Is there an audible difference between the two? How could I distinguish one from the other or could I?
This is not a thumping sound, more of a tapping sound. I would also think if it was a knock it would not be frequent at idle whereas this is.
In a previous post about oil pressure I mention some lifter noise at start up when it is cold. | | |
