I don't think it was a "sudden" failure. This is where the pushrods wear and this is where they fail.

If you look at the remaining pushrods, you might possibly see cracks starting to form in this little seat area.

The caveat would be to make sure your top end is getting oil. You will have to run the engine with the valve cover removed and watch for drips and dribbles. This system won't spray the oil.

If your rig has solid lifters, now would be a good time for a valve adjustment, and maybe a set of new pushrods!
