#65841 09/17/2006 10:53 PM | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 | The reason the replacement engines were not stamped with the serial number at the factory was that vehicles of that time in the U.S. were normally registered with the engine serial number rather than the body serial number, so when an engine was replaced, the old engine serial number was stamped on the new engine while it was being replaced. That way, the registration paperwork matched. | | |
