Yeah, it'd start---and run wide open. It's the throttle plate at the bottom of the carb that regulates air flow, thus rpm, and with no restriction it's katy bar the door. Actually it would only get to 6000 rpm and then stop itself by depositing the bottom of the block and all it holds onto your garage floor.
