I have a 57 chevy 1/2 ton that is pretty much bone stock. The only thing i can't figure out is if the rear axle has been swapped out or if a Dana 44 was ever an option in these trucks????????????? It's the right width, has stock looking perches and shock mounts, and is 6 lug. all the other rear axles i've seen in these trucks had the removeable center section and the round rear cover. I have confirmed it's a Dana 44, i'm not guessing. It has Dana cast on one area and 44 cast on the lowert ear where all Dana 44's are marked. Was this stock or not??????????????????
