After months of trying to connect with a fellow about his old Chev truck, we did it today. Out in the sage-brush where they towed it last year. Opened hood-big rabbit sitting on valve cover. Could use left fender, but it's repairable. VIN buster says it's a 1949 2T. Grain box, original radio; hasn't run in years.

Questions: I figured this came with 216 babbit engine. Valve cover today has NO twin studs for cover mounting like 216. Does have oil fill in front, top of cover and, "Chevrolet," across top of cover. Does this suggest a 235? Truck also has bright trim around windows...stainless? Fancier option package? Truck has heater and is a 5-window cab. Straight rear end, (no 2S), no hoist.

What have I got that I haven't deciphred yet?

I'm pretty excited to find a way to get it home. I wonder if the front end is too heavy for a two-wheel, auto tow dolly??

Can't find a way to load photo; will try in separate post.
