The 261 in my 55 first series has a 7 1/2" oil dipstick tube(from the lip at the block to the top) and a 15" dipstick. The dipstick tube on my 54 car 235 is about 6" with a 15" dipstick. My guess is that they should both be the same length on the tube (about 6") to read the oil level correctly. Are not the pans on both engines the same capacity?
