well i found 2 rochester 2 jets at the bone yard yesterday- but i believe they are the wrong ones; something about the throttle body plates being bigger than the ones i was supposed to get. but i did a little research and came across this
http://www.amcca.com.au/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1732 it seems like i could do it without the kit. the kit with the progressive linkage is around 350 bucks! screw that- im trying to keep it low budget! but between the explanation on that page, the expanded view on the speedway motors page (including one just of the progressive linkage), and what experience i have adjusting throttle plates to change cfm, i think it would be quite possible to do it without the kit- just a lot more tuning. basically the kit makes the triple deuce into a large square bore; one primary and 2 secondaries. the middle one is the primary-idle to part throttle, which increases fuel economy, and it continues to operate through the full throttle range as normal. the progressive linkage keeps the throttle plates on the front and rear carbs closed until part throttle. the front and rear carbs (secondaries) are modified a little; removing the power valve piston, and plugging the powervalve with allen head screws ( those are definitely worth the $350 cause they are so hard to find lol) they basicaly have their primary components removed. once the progressive linkage kicks them in you are already rolling! the article also gives jet sizes, so i dont have to go through a bunch of guessing b.s. to get it right. i love making things like this, and i am tweekerishly fastidious when it comes to these things, if any one can see any problems i may have, or for some reason thinks it cant be done, id appreciate the heads up. im currently rebuilding te motor and am going to be reinstalling the manifold and carb that came with the truck until i get this maniflod and carb set up working so i got all the time in the world to spend on it. even the carbs that i got went strait into my storage so i will stay on track! lol (if i have them sitting on my desk ill want to play with them while im trying to do other things)
