Tim, Read the article you posted because it says " Dulux was never used in the production of automobiles". It was used on appliances.
Way back I questioned... How when shooting lacquer do they come up with a shine in the jam area, because lacquers always need buffing to bring up a shine.
I was told the factory shot the paint hot. Basically saying they used a method not available to us in the refinish area.
Back in the 50's I watched my uncle paint in his body shop which he took over from his dad and lacquer is what was used on GM vehicles.
Not that it makes didley squat difference now because that was too long ago and the paint available to us now is quite different.
I'm just happy we don't have to paint with lacquer any more and was referring to the paints available to us in the refinish industry.
