When in doubt think. Pull #1 plug and turn it over with finger in hole to feel compression, watch for timing mark on balancer and get it to tdc. It can be either on or off 180 degrees. So get it to the compression stroke and on the mark. Number 1 plug wire is in about the 1 o clock position on the cap looking down on it from the rear.
