So, I'm driving 1,000 miles form texas to Florida and i managed to strip my cam gear halfway through the trip.
I towed my bolt back and found that the timing gear failure managed to bend 5 of my 6 intake valves.
I ordered new sealed power v-958 valves and was just about to lap them and put the head back together when i noticed that they have two grooves in them instead of one. My oem keepers fit both of the grooves, but this will result in the valve spring being a couple of mm lower (more compressed) than the orig.
Has anyone else run into this ? Did you install them and not look back or is there a different keeper that should be used on the new valves?
I've got a '42 1.5 ton. stock babbit pounder.
