For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 | Got a call from a friend last night. He found all the lifters in his 454 in his truck wiped out. I know the quick answer is the lack of zinc in the motor oil. He also noted that the rear of the cam gear had worn into the block. The motor was fresh about 4 years ago, 25,000 miles. It was done with a fresh crankshaft, .040 pistons, cam lifters and such. I'm just looking for ideas to pass his way. I've read many different points about the motor oil these days and just would like to offer him some other things to check out. Thanks Don | | |
