Carl, If you do indeed have a 235 in your truck some one has put a 1962 or earlier engine in it. More than likely what you have is a 230/250. The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same for the 230/250s and the Chevy V8s. If your idea is to buy a complete donor truck for the upgrades then I would suggest a 1986 or earlier. The engine from the donor truck will just about a bolt in. There will be several ways to do the brakes. The biggiest problem will be the rear axle. You will have to cut and weld spring perches and shock mounts. You will also have to watch your wheel offsets.
