I believe my truck has a tube that comes out of the top of the float/sensor fitting on the gas tank and runs under the truck. I've never seen it drip but I assume its more for allowing air pressure to escape. Like Roy says, if the tank is pretty full and then heats up, it may be the cause of the overflow.
