I am running a slightly bigger cam in my 250 with a automatic and 3.08 gears. Wrenchbender is right about the idle, its a shake and vibrate instead of the V-8 style rumble. As far running goes, it might be faster then the stock cam, but I have to run the engine higher rpm to feel it. To off set the rough idle, I went with a set of Rhoads bleed down lifters. They do not fully pump up till 2500 rpm, so at idle, a big cam idles much smoother. Now, my big cam idles with more vacuum (19") then my stock one (18.5") did. With what I spent on lifters and cam, the price per seat of pants feel was pretty high. A stock cam will always feel better at low rpm driving.
It all comes back to how much are willing to give up and put up with! Joe
